Young People

We will increase opportunities for schools to better prepare students for sporting carnivals and competitions.

It is important that kids stay active move and compete. We believe they need to play team sports and experience healthy competition, as this can develop core skills for life.

Working with teachers, school leaders and the sporting community, we will look for ways to provide fun and challenging sport and recreation activities and inter-school sporting competitions.

Improving skills like teamwork, physical literacy and coordination are core components of this initiative.

The cost of sports and extracurricular activities for students can be prohibitive for many families, and can be a deterrent for participation.

To encourage more kids to try sports and get active, we will explore ways to reduce the financial burden on families. We will target age groups where participation is low so that we keep kids and teenagers playing sport during their school years.
